Questions, answered.

How do I install OnVoice on my Mac?

Download the OnVoice zip from the latest release and open it. Drag OnVoice to Applications and open it from there. Allow Microphone and Accessibility when asked, then sign in once with Apple, Google or WhatsApp. It needs macOS 14 or later. Download and install

Why does the Mac app need Microphone and Accessibility?

The microphone listens when you dictate or take meeting notes. Your audio is turned into text on your Mac and is not saved. Accessibility lets OnVoice see the dictation key and type the text into the app you are using. You can turn either one off in System Settings, under Privacy & Security.

How do I turn on the OnVoice keyboard on iPhone?

Open Settings, then General, Keyboard, Keyboards, and tap Add New Keyboard. Choose OnVoice. Then tap OnVoice in that list and turn on Allow Full Access. Basic typing works without Full Access.

Why does the keyboard need Full Access?

iOS keeps a keyboard isolated from its own app unless you allow Full Access. OnVoice asks for it so the keyboard can start dictation in the OnVoice app, receive the text back, and use your dictionary, snippets and settings. Apple's standard message says a keyboard with Full Access could send what you type elsewhere. The OnVoice keyboard has no network code: the keyboard itself does not send what you type or dictate anywhere. It exchanges data only with the OnVoice app on the same iPhone.

Why does dictating on iPhone briefly open the OnVoice app?

iOS does not let a keyboard use the microphone. So the keyboard starts dictation in the OnVoice app, the app listens, and the text comes back to the keyboard. Speech is recognised on your iPhone and the audio is not saved. A Live Activity shows that a dictation session is ready and how long it has left.

How do I delete my account and my data?

Delete your account in the app, under Settings, or from your account page on our website. We then delete the account information we hold and end your sign-in straight away. Your dictation, history and notes stay on your devices, plus your own iCloud account if you turned sync on, so deleting your account does not remove them: delete them in the app, or remove the app. Deleting the iPhone app deletes its data. Uninstalling the Mac app leaves its folder, ~/Library/Application Support/OnVoice/, which you can delete yourself.

How does iCloud sync work?

Sync is optional. When you turn it on, your history, dictionary, snippets, to-dos and diary are copied between your devices through your own iCloud account, encrypted. OnSuite cannot read them. Turn it off in Settings. Deleting an item deletes it on all your devices.

Where are the privacy policy and terms?

Read the Privacy Policy for what OnVoice does and does not collect, and the Terms of Service for the rules of use.
